How to create the best office culture

Every successful company has a set of company values to assist their employees in achieving their goals as well as the company’s. They are the essence of the company’s identity and summarize the purpose of their existence.

Question: What are your values as an individual?

Its OK if you're not sure or don't know right now - Lots of people can't specifically articulate their values although they have a reasonable idea of what they might be.

In terms of a company, the values should be known as they're an essential guide to leaders and employees on how people behave and act.

Here are 3 top reasons why company values are critical to the long-term growth and value of your business:

1) Values help you hire the right people. Hiring the person who best fits your team or business is vastly more important than their technical expertise. Being able to ask what values they believe strongly in and to demonstrate when they last had to act upon them during interview will help you understand how this person will 'fit in'. People who share your values will ultimately be driven by the same purpose and engaged to deliver it.

2) Values help you make decisions.  Core values help everyone make better decisions. For example, if one of your core values is to stand behind the quality of your products, any products not reaching the satisfactory standard can be eliminated.

3. Values are the heart of your client offering. Core values educate clients and potential customers about what your company is about and clarify the identity of the company. Especially in this competitive world, having a set of specific core values that speak to your clients is a real competitive advantage.

We asked what your values were - If you don't know pick 4 now and see if they fit with the company you're in.
